How Fast Can Spiderman Travel?

According to those panels, he covers 2 miles in five seconds, which works out to 1,440 miles per hour.

Spider-Man travels at the same speed as Superman or the USS Enterprise or the Millennium Falcon for that matter: The speed of plot. :)

The speed of sound is about 768 miles per hour, so he's traveling approximately Mach 2. You'd think people would comment on the sonic boom.

Jaerdaph, good point, although in this case there is no plot need for him to travel that fast. It's just a throwaway line, but as Diane points out, it's insane.

Spidey can make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.

BWAHAHAHA - love it!

At 50 seconds, it would have had him going a crazy but "movie-style" 144 mph - basically a Harley Davidson at full throttle or sports car with the pedal floored.

I suspect the writer originally penned something a touch better - like two blocks later instead of miles - but, in classic Bronze Age fashion, "pushed" the description to SUPERHEROIC level and left reality a bit far behind...

Maybe they meant five minutes. Or borrowed a Flash script.
