That is strange on many levels. Who wound the key after Superboy moved to Metropolis? Was Smallville's main drag so small that it was effectively alternating one-way? Was there another giant Superboy statue at the other end of town?

I first thought Superboy was wearing sunglasses which is another strange aspect. Any kind of objects attached to the eyes could possibly make one think of Clark Kent.
Was there some sort of reason that superboy had a giant statue made of him. Also that must be slightly degrading to have you're own statue to be used to direct traffic
